Love Makes No Sense: Following the Long Path of the Heart

  • The Living Mantra 125 Catalpa Street Santa Cruz, CA, 95062 United States (map)

To be in love is to want to linger; the person or experience that enchants us is before our eyes, and we want to drink deeply of the moment. To feel the charge of love rejuvenates us; the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

However, if we only consider the initial highs of love to be truly love, we miss the many other ways love appears. Love doesn't always look the way we think it should. Sometimes, it doesn't look like love at all. But in time, what did not seem like love becomes clear to be love after all.

Meditation creates in us an inner capacity for such paradox, where so-called contradictions can coexist. One understands that the path of love is a long one, where what does not make sense today will make sense further down the way. The heart of a meditator, then, is willing to linger so that true love can emerge.

All are welcome to this evening meditation gathering. Food will be served around the fire, followed by a period of meditation and teaching.

$20 welcomed donation. All are invited, regardless of funds.

Please bring a set of dishes and utensils for yourself (2 small bowls, spoon, fork, knife, napkin, tea cup and water glass). Delicious side dishes and appetizers, beverages, fruits and desserts are most welcome.

The meal: vegetarian main course, sautéed garden greens, assorted appetizers.

If you have dietary restrictions, feel free to bring portable containers of your own meal.
